SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
GOALS (SDGS)
In 2015, the member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Agenda includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The overall aims are to put an end to poverty, protect the planet, to ensure prosperity for all, and to foster peaceful, just, and inclusive societies through global partnership based on a spirit of global solidarity. Achieving these goals involves fundamental changes in how we live on Earth – a global transformation.
Each of the goals contains a number of specific targets to be achieved by 2030. For example:
SDG Goal 4: Quality Education
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all!
Target 4.7: education for sustainable development and global citizenship
By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.
SDG Goal 13: Climate Action
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts!
Target 13.3: Build knowledge and capacity to meet climate change
Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.
